CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA: TAP MEETS WITH NEW COMMUNICATIONS MINISTER (MINTIC)

On January 27, Carolina Peña, TAP Advisor in Colombia, met with audiovisual policy leaders in Cartagena, Colombia.


The meeting was attended by Sandra Urrutia Pérez, Minister of Information Technology and Communications of Colombia; Ernesto Orozco, Commissioner of the CRC; Alfredo Deluque, Senator of the Republic of Colombia; and Verena Weber Head of Unit Policy for Communication Infrastructure and Services, OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation.


Senator Deluque explained about the development of television in Colombia, emphasizing the incentives that the country has in audiovisual issues. The meeting was also an opportunity to link Colombian officials with the OECD, a multilateral organization that is in the process of developing the mechanism to tax digital companies worldwide.


"The meeting was a space to talk about telecommunications in Colombia, the production of local content and the importance of the mechanisms to promote them, including international producers and platforms," said Carolina Peña, TAP Advisor in Colombia.
