Miami, FL, April 3rd. TAP met with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Francisco Palmieri during the BCIU annual Chiefs of Mission Conference, which TAP co-sponsored. The Conference honors the top diplomats from the U.S. posted across countries in Latin America.
TAP raised to the chief diplomat the importance of Colombia’s audiovisual production incentives which has served as an example and best practice in the region. Colombia’s incentives program has, as of 2022, attracted a total of 58 audiovisual production projects totaling $USD 297 million in investments and created 8,129 direct and more than 58,000 indirect jobs, according to the country’s film commission, Proimagenes.
Chargé Palmieri has served in the Foreign Service for 36-years. Among his prior roles, he served as Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Central America and the Caribbean, and Director of the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs’ Office of Policy Planning and Coordination. Chargé Palmieri was also a Senior Fellow and faculty member at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University. Alongside his post in Colombia, he concurrently serves as the Chief of Mission of the Venezuelan Affairs Unit.
